Hi, To my surprise after installing Host Mgr. 1.6.4.0 I could not get to Netflix.com (online rental of movies) I found netflix.com in the long list. I then deleted netflix.com using the manager, saved the changes. And still could not get on to netflix. tried reboot still no luck. Removed the hosts & hosts manager. Netflix is now working fine.
1. Why would you include netflix.com has a bad or blocked site.
2. How could I have been allowed to this site by using your mgr?
3. Also my home page my.yahoo there banner add seemed screwed up, or perhaps other parts of my.yahoo were broken. I did see in the mgrs list similar names to yahoo, but left them alone.
Thanks for any comments

I guess thanks for cryptic reply. Perhaps you could try & answer the question, now that you pointed out why I had trouble with netflix & my.yahoo. Besides "Hmm"
can you please explain how to get netflix to work using your product?

You didn't delet www.netflix.com. What does this mean? Bluetacks's Hosts Manager 1.6.4.0 has a delete button & when i highlighted "netflix.com (from your list) then presssed delete, netflix.com was gone from the list, then when i quit the program i was prompted to save the changes. So the question is/was & still is why after all that i could still not get to netflix & what should i have done to get to netflix?
You've also assumed wrong I'm not upset. I don't know why your so upset with yahoo.
Your hosts file seems restrictive, & some users may not want all your restrictions. Hence the user should be allowed to bypass or allow your restrictions. Or in other words for example how do you get to netflix using your product. Previously you guys had a problem with user using CNN!
Also as stated I'm a Newbie, with hosts, bluetack, & hosts mgr.

there are 2 entries, www.netflix.com and netflix.com you will need to delete both of them. If you would have looked we would not be having this conversation.
yahoo owns overture and I will not support them in any way. Gets my blood boiling just seeing someone use them.

Hi rico123,
Apart from the fact that netflix is related to Gator's Advertisers, I'll offer you a second reason as bonus.
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/entertainme...free_trial.htmlhttp://www.consumeraffairs.com/entertainme...ix_billing.htmlhttp://www.consumeraffairs.com/entertainme...ix_quality.htmlIt's not our fault that you have to accept ads from Yahoo to use my.yahoo ... a HOSTS file is meant to block advertising, banners, spyware, malware.....
If you want to know what is blocking, right-click on the red cross you see in your browser and select properties. Look for a corresponding entry or entries in your HOSTS file and disable it, exclude it or disable it ... choice is up to you.

Hello, & Thank You for the info.
What a shame that netflix is involved with what you say. They don't seem to put malware on my box. As the many spyware scanners do not show, malware.
Anyway
Thanks again

Hi Kim, Just looked at the three links you provided regarding netflix. While I'm sure those people have legitimate gripes about netflix. Personally I've been using netflix for probably 2yrs now without a problem. Also I've rented from them 200+ movies. Oh! & during my time with netflix they have lowered, the price of rentals. The movies get to me in one day, same time frame for the return & updating my movie que. I'm sure you could pull up "Consumer Affairs" complaints on just about any product or service. First-Aid (see previous posts this thread) has issues with Yahoo, while millions of people don't share his view. Should everyone feel as Mr. First-Aid does Yahoo would be out of business. Also as previously stated Netflix does not put any malware on my box, so says MS Antispyware, CA PestPatrol, AdAware, SpyBot. So there advertising seems pretty un-offensive, at least to me. And in my opinion BlueTack seems a little heavy handed, in dealing with them. Just out of curiousity, why in the past was CNN included in the list, & what made you folks change your attitude. Also I guess my.yahoo is free, because of the ad banners etc. One can always choose not to click also.
Also
Gurunet (same people who, do answers.com) is acting up thinking I'm not connected to the internet. Also quicken.com had the same problem! These two programs use my dsl line & not IE. Previously they both worked fine.
Thanks

Update! I just unchecked "auto detect internet connection" from within Gurunet (there suggestion) it seems to work now.
