my pc connect directly to a hub..and the router also connect to the hub.......and for my question.....
why is 255.0.0.0 is being block by protowall???? whenever i strat my pc and router, protowall block 255.0.0.0 even though it is not on it's blocklist?
all i see is...

iana reserved 0.0.0.1 - 2.255.255.255
invalis ips 0.0.0.1 - 0.255.255.255
bogon 0.0.0.5 - 2.255.255.255
general electric company 3.0.0.0 - 3.255.255.255

the only workaround for me now is to turn off protowall before i connect then turn it on again. have this been fix in the beta of protowall 2? i'm using ver 1.47(build 5300)

You will need to make an exclusion for your IANA ip's that you use to connect to the net, It has to be in your ipfilter.p2p file or protowall will not block anything.

Are you using blm (Blocklist Manager) to create your lists? If so go to options/personal sources and then to edit exclusions and put the Ip in the start and end Ip and give it a name and redownload and export your list to protowall.

Keep in mind 1.42 will not hold all lists in its database, so I would upgrade to 2.01 build 7. YOu will need to uninstall the 1.42 driver and install the new 2.01 driver for protowall.

255.0.0.0 is a broadcast address that is used by the router / switch. Either don'tu use the LAN list or exclude it. It will be there somewhere, PW only blocks what it is told to wink.gif

I also recommend upgrading to 2.x. It is not actually beta, it is much more stable.
