hi all posted here so all can see wink.gif hopefully it will stop some posts asking for the ip to be removed.

if you use site adviser and see its not on when going to a page check pw is not blocking something,i have found this ip:

216.143.70.105 which is macafee stops site adviser when blocked,i presume thats a default when site adviser dials home for site info???????
perhaps not perhaps when it dials home with info blink.gif

anyway add that ip to exclusions in blm and thats it sorted ok.gif

Kim, Moore or Marklusty,

Now I feel rather foolish but I "bought" the "Siteadvisor" idea; I installed it on a couple of PCs in-house but not on any "customer's" boxes. I was prepared to recommend it and I of course need to examine it myself because I will probably see it installed on boxes I look at.

Now I'm wondering what the "scoop" is?
The "McAfee Site Advisor for Firefox" install runs afoul of
Packet to "McAfee Network, macafee - siteadviser" ( 216.143.70.74 ) blocked. [protocol: TCP - src: 4095 / dst: 80]

I've read thru their privacy policy and as long as I remain a 'free user" and don't comment on any sites (sign-up), their data collection claims to be anonymous. (Or at least until they change it.)

I'm aware that McAfee is generally a laughingstock in the "virus community," perhaps. But I'm not nearly as well educated on this as I should be, apparently.

Can someone please point me in a direction where I might learn more? I always hate it when I recommend something to others and it turns out I was mislead, uninformed or just plain stupid. dntknw.gif
