I'd wait until the final release comes out, these pre-releases have screwed up many people's computers.

Im with Snp2k ive heard of many peeps suffering irreversable damage because SP2 beta your prolly best off letting MS get the bugs out
This advice was passed on to me:
As with other public releases of Windows software, I recommend that you hang back unless you can test it on an unimportant test machine that you don't mind wiping or restoring a cloned image on. And never install a beta of a Windows version or service pack over another beta; never install the final released code over a beta. If you install a beta, be prepared to forfeit your Windows installation. Even though Windows XP SP2 pre-release versions to date have all included working uninstall routines, that does not mean that the results are good to go long term.

Not to mention every version of the SP2 RCs to date in my experience have been wholly incompatible with SP1a. (I have tried installing them all, both network and single computer releases, all resulted in a need to wipe the drive). And yes, this was tried with and without slipstreaming the installs.

i installed SP2 RC1 over my slipstreamed install of SP1a and it did fine. Since then i have installed 2 more builds: RC2 and Build 2162. It is still running fine here.

I honestly don't see a reason for getting this unless there is a specific feature on SP2 that you are DYING to get.
Just wait for the official release...
