Off By One Browser is an independent web browser that runs completely self-contained and does not require any other browser - it does not use the IE browsing engine. It can even run directly from a floppy, CD, ZIP etc. without installation. OffByOne does not support Java or Plugins like Flash - which may limit it for everyday use, but offers the advantage of popup windows free browsing and eliminates the vulnerability to malicious code.
In addition, the browser allows you to surf the web without leaving any tracks, since the page cache and image cache are not stored to disk, but to memory and are erased at the end of the session. OffByOne implements full HTML 3.2 support plus many HTML 4.0 extensions, including Frames as well as SSL. Additional features include cookie management, support for IE favorites, offline file saving, image zoom and more. A nice compact browser that may not be a good choice for an IE replacement, but great if you need a browser that fits on a floppy, or to be included in a CD distribution etc.

Off By One Browser Limitations [these are good security features for me
No JavaScript support (so no pop-up ad windows). - [no more javascript attack/installs - some sites may not fully work without javascript]
No applet, plug-in or Flash support. - [no more of that flash ad crap]
How are pages, images and cookies cached?
The page cache and image cache are memory-resident and utilize no disk storage, so they disappear without a trace at the end of a browsing session.
Persistent HTTP cookies are stored across sessions in the file HPSW.CKI, which may be safely deleted between sessions for maximum privacy.
How do I set the User-Agent header to avoid rejection by rude sites?
QUOTE
ALL_HTTP - HTTP_USER_AGENT:Mozilla/4.7 (compatible; OffByOne; Windows 2000) Webster Pro V3.4
ALL_RAW - User-Agent: Mozilla/4.7 (compatible; OffByOne; Windows 2000) Webster Pro V3.4
ALL_RAW - User-Agent: Mozilla/4.7 (compatible; OffByOne; Windows 2000) Webster Pro V3.4
The outgoing User-Agent HTTP header identifies the browser to the server. By default, the Off By One browser uses the identification string "Mozilla/3.0 (compatible; OffByOne; &sys) Webster Pro V3.2". Some rude web sites refuse to serve pre-4.0 browsers, but you can often convince these to communicate with the Off By One browser by using a different User-Agent identification string.
Until a better UI is implemented, you can specify a value for the outgoing User-Agent HTTP header by directly editing the initialization file OB1.INI, which is typically placed in the C:\WINDOWS directory after the first time you run the browser.
This is a simple text file consisting of [section headers in square brackets] followed by lines with Name=Value pairs.
You can use Notepad or any other text editor to add or edit one line to set the name UserAgent to the value of your choice. For example, to look like a 4.7 client, use:
[Properties]
UserAgent=Mozilla/4.7 (compatible; OffByOne; &sys)
A &sys specification is replaced with the name of the operating system when used in the User-Agent header.
This setting will take effect the next time you run the browser.

Cookie Support Selects how HTTP cookies are handled.
Enabled: full support.
Disabled: no cookies are served.
Session-Fresh Only: serve only cookies received during the current browser session.
SSL Support Determines how Web sites secured with SSL (URLs starting with "https:") are handled.
SSL Enabled: full SSL support for visiting secure sites.
This option is greyed out when the OpenSSL DLL files are not present.
SSL Disabled: No SSL support, can't visit secure sites.
Fake SSL: When this option is checked, "https:" URLs that normally require SSL connections will be accessed as if they were regular "http:" URLs. Some sites with "https:" addresses still allow access without an actual secure (encrypted) connection, and checking this option allows access to such sites. Examples are some WebMail systems, message boards etc. However, site that require a truly secure connection such as banks or brokerages cannot be accessed even when this option is checked.
Note that this option does not establish a secure connection with "https:" sites, it simply establishes a normal connection with "https:" sites if they accept a normal connection.
Enable New Window When this option is checked, links specified with a "TARGET=_blank" attribute will open in a new window. When the option is unchecked, such links will display new pages in the current browser window. Also applies to the right-mouse-button menu options "Open in New Window" and "Open Frame in New Window".
Enable External Players When this option is checked, downloaded binary files that require external players or editors (e.g. ZIP files, spreadsheets) will results in a dialog box offering to launch the external player for the file. When unchecked, only a download page with Save option is displayed.
Note that executables (*.EXE files) are never automatically launched, for safety reasons.
Enable Meta Refresh META REFRESH tags can cause the browser to reload the current page or to load a different page, immediately or after a time delay. When the option is checked, the browser honors such META REFRESH tags. Uncheck to disable reloading and redirection by META REFRESH tags.
Send Referrer Header By default this option is checked, causing an HTTP Referer (sic) header to be included in the request sent to the server for loading a new HTML page. This header identifies the 'referring page', the page from which you clicked the link that initiated the load.
Uncheck this option if you prefer to not reveal the referring page to the server.
Keep Forward History When this option is checked, all new entries are appended to the end of the history list, following any "forward" entries resulting from PageBack operations. When unchecked, the history list is maintained in a standard manner, meaning that hyperlinking after a PageBack operation removes the "forward" entries from the list.
Load Images When this option is checked, images load normally. Uncheck to ignore images.
Enable Image Animation When this option is checked, animated images play normally. Uncheck to freeze animated images.
Show NoFrames When this option is unchecked, FrameSet pages load normally. Check to ignore FRAMESET tags and display the NOFRAMES section, if present.
Show NoScript When this option is checked, NOSCRIPT sections are displayed normally. Uncheck to ignore any NOSCRIPT sections when browsing sites that erroneously repeat the NOSCRIPT content, typically resulting in the display of duplicate images.
Start and Home Page... Display a dialog in which you can specify the Start page, which is the default page displayed when the browser is started, and the Home page, which is the page retrieved when the Home button is pressed.
Proxy Server Setup... Display the Proxy Server setup dialog. Basic Authentication proxy servers are supported, as well as non-authenticating proxy servers.
