I know that this is not going to help me right now as I am already a victim of theft. My wallet has been stolen and I have lost all my important documents that even included my financial details. I fear that they may be used to make my accounts drain. I have already taken the necessary steps for this but this is going to be a real danger in future as it is sometimes too late and by that time everything is gone. I wanted to know that if there are any pre-steps that we can take in case of wallet theft?

Sorry to hear this.

Yes there are presteps such as have scanned images/copies of all your cards/licences documents etc, stored in a safe location / vault etc.

But it is very important you notify every bank with your account numbers since they should freeze the accounts give you new one and move the assets over in kind. Most banks protect their customers in these cases.

You need to report this to the police but you have already do that right?

You insurance may provide coverage as well.

Alter all your passwords asap and maximize them.

Good luck

That always sucks when someone steals your stuff.. Where did they steal your wallet from ?

All I can say is be more careful next time where you put/leave it.

You could always get one of those key chain kinda things to attach your wallet to your pants so it can't be stolen so easy next time, or maybe the person will just try to steal your pants with it as well...
