Hi I'm new here and not sure if this is posted in the right place. I've just started using ProtoWall and blocklist Manager and noticed this (don't know why) 2004/03/24 20:24:00 [->] non-hostile source (207.46.107.56), access granted [protocol: TCP / destport: 3131] did a check with Whois.Arin and it says it's something to do with Microsoft and abuse!

Is this anything to be concerned about?

do you use windows updates , msn messenger or hotmail , it could be from something like that , do you know if you were websurfing at that time ?

microsoft has a lot of call home features smile.gif embedded into its operating systems , liike the error reporting and automatic codec downloads for windows media player, and windows updates.

i found msn messenger was almost possesed when i was using it, even if u shut it down it would auto restart 3 minutes later, i ended up renaming all the msn executables to .old , to shut it up for a while ,lol, never bothered to uninstall it yet.

id guess that is where your connections are coming from then...

take care , cya. biggrin.gif

that is a different "messenger" wink.gif lol. MSN Messenger is a "chat" sorta Instant Messager utility. Whereas "Messenger" as in "Shoot the Messenger" is a service that Microsoft has set to run by default on new installs of XP wink.gif

So yea, The shoot the messenger program IS good, definately Disable that service to stop annoying pop up messages. But, its not the same as MSN Messenger tongue.gif
