Hello all,

Are there any proxy tools that anyone can recommend that come with an automatic list updater? Is this a reliable way for anonymity whilst being connected to the internet?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Check out ProxyWay or Proxy Manager
Now as far as remaining anonymous, define online anonymity. I never quite grasped the reasons why Joe Average would actually need to pursue it. Do some serious background research on proxies by all means.

Thanks for your reply rzvvts.

As for your above comment, the ProxyWay website seems to sum up my thoughts on the subject:

Internet is full of potential risk to your privacy and security. Every time you surf the web you leave traces of your Internet activity that can reveal your real-life identity. Any web resource you access can gather and record usage information about you such as your IP address, location, time of day, browser type, browser language, software configuration, operating system you are using, web pages last visited and other information that you might want to keep confidential

I hope that I haven't completely misunderstood?

FUD,mostly. Most of the alleged drawbacks these guys point to are either irrelevant (time of day? jester.gif . As if that wasn`t recorded anyway) or easily done away with by properly tweaking your browser and/or other software connecting to the internet (browser ID, OS ID, referrer, the works). Having said that, you might find Proxomitron a lot more useful.

Admuncher - [ admuncher.com ] -has a built in feature that will let you download proxy lists from the internet to use with it.

It's probably the next best thing to a fully configured Proxomitron but nowhere near as complicated.

ive been using a program called proxy switcher for my work(bypassing bans and limitations). it gathers lists automatically, but if you want good ones, you have to scrape them yourself. is there a program that allows you to change proxies after a set number of connections? time is less efficient.

I haven't played with any proxy apps for awhile.. but the last ones I know of that could rotate proxies were things like multi proxy - http://www.multiproxy.org/ [ devleopment has stoppped for that but it still works fine] , stealther, and Proxomitron I think can do it too.

Switch proxy Firefox Extension - havent tried it so might not be automatic :

There are quite a few Firefox proxy extensions to check out.. - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/se...&cat=1%2C12
