IS YOUR MACHINE GETTING PINGED WHEN YOU COME HERE?
Posted by CodeWarrior on March 26, 2004 at 5:47 PM (printer friendly)

For some time, many of us have experienced getting "hammered" with pings from the RIAA, from BigChampagne,Vivendi, BayTSP, and others. We need some hard evidence on this issue, so, here's what we need.

Those of you with PeerGuardian, or Zone Alarm or other firewall that can track attemption intrustions or excessive "pinging" or port scans, that seem to start when you visit this site, or leave this site, or while you are here
(and by "this site" I mean DMusic.com, boycott-riaa.com, gnutella.com, or gnutellanews.com ) please keep a record of this.

You can do a ctrl + prt scrn (Control plus Print Screen) to capture the image of peerguardian's screen showing intrustions, and copy this to a paint or graphic program to document the interference, or you can copy the PeerGuardian list of IP address, time and date...etc..

As much as possible, try to keep track of this for a few days or so.

If you are not using P2P programs, all the better. We are trying to see if there is in fact a pattern and practice of these various entities trying to target our visitors , apparently, simply for visiting this site.

You can respond here, or send me an email at

scan_evidence(at)yahoo.com

We really want to find out one way or another what is going on, and the sooner you can start the better.

Please

In advance, thank you for your help.

the question is.....how can the riaa/etc companies "know" when a user visits a website such as boycott-riaa.com ? Cookies? hmm...sounds weird..wonder if they have an ad banner or graphic on there page that is hosted by 1 of the groups?

hey good post by firstaid , but i think someone should post there to stop them from saying use Peerguardian for detecting these pings , lol, i thought everybody knows PG only blocks TCP , and pings are ICMP , theres no way in hell anyone with PG is going to pick up that shit. laugh.gif

sorry Meth ,thats the truth and my 2¢
