Hi

I have been using block lists for a long time now (many thanks to evey1 at bluetack). My ISP is Virgin media they have recently struck a deal with Universal, and now with Digital Britain. Im getting worried about snooping ISP's. I have a small network at home so i have blocked all of virgins ip addresses including my own, but allowed the routers IP in PG2. My internet connection would last for awhile but would inevitably crash and burn with all my ports being blocked. So I have installed a program called Anti ARP which prevents DOS attacks, which has solved the problem of limited or no internet connection. My knowledge of networks ect is very limited; so lol could any one tell me if what i have done is very stupid or have i managed to block my isp with out degrading my connection?

Thanks
Kimberly
Hi Bagleys,

Without seeing any logs containing blocked connections it's a bit hard to tell but I'm afraid you did block essential requests such as DHCP or DNS ... causing your internet connection to drop out. You can find more information on these IP / Ports in the following guide.

From Windows XP SP 2 and higher you might get the "limited or no internet connection" message if your nic and/or network drivers are not fully supported by the OS. This can be fixed in various ways - More info here - Setting a static IP adress for my NIC, setting the default gateway and DNS servers did the trick for me.
