Ok new project, posting of bad websites.
this is the place to submite sites that look like there trying to pull scams or just plain out stupid sites that shouldn't be on the net.
Were cleaning up the internet so we may as well do this as well

Post anything that shouldn't be on the intetnet and its no holds barred so bad pr0n,scam sites, trackers and all else.
Just don't post kiddie pr0n if you find it,pm it to a Member of the hosts team or a admin to add it to the database as we realy do not want to link to anything that is that sick.
If there is any questions pm me and ill let you know if it should be posted or not.

scam site offering secret teachings and trying to scam you into there cult.
I talked to the write of there Q'R'beth the other day and he is saying that the book is a prank that he made back in the 70's and there isn't any hiteon religion, its just something that he made up to get a 100 bucks on a bet

this is what he had to say on that book:
QUOTE
You sound like a real sensible person. I grew up around religious people so
naturally I was brainwashed since a mere child in to believing in the
supernatural and it never even dawned on me that some one might be pulling
my leg until I was in my mid forties and then I started researching
religions and came to the conclusion all religions were man's answers to
everything they did not understand or in which they believed could change
the course of their lives and told my friends and some members of my family
my theory and told a friend: "Heck, if Joseph Smith, Ron Hubbard, St. Paul,
St. Peter and Mohammed can write a book and make people believe it's true
and start their own religions, so can I." Well my friend says; "If you can
do that and get a bunch of followers I'll give you a hundred bucks, but if
you can't you will have to pay me the hundred bucks." I told him he had a
deal and he said I had only one year to get the members, but could take
longer to finish the book. So in 1977 I started the Q'R'Beth and got several
smaller books written that year. At first I just called them by numbers,
Book One, Book Two and so on, but the further I got along in it and leaving
out parts of chapters in order I have some "secret teachings" to make it
appear more mysterious,I gave the books more mysterious sounding names. I
managered to bring in six members that first year, mostly young married
"hippy" types. I got my hundred bucks and kept writing off and on over the
years. I soon had dozens of followers and some went on missions to Canada
and Africa. Then about 1988 or 89 I saw an ad in Fate Magazine from Joan
Teresa Power Products out of Safety Harbor, Florida who sold occult supplies
by mail. So I wrote her and told her I had been contacted by a "divine
spirit" who told me of a long lost religion that was 5,000 years old and I
was the "new spiritual leader" and would she be interested in promoting it
and learning of it's teachings? Of course she most certainly was. So I sent
her lessons on video because that was the easiest way. Then about a year
later I told her one of the divine spirits had told me she was to be the
"savior" promised in some prophecies (which I added to the same book) and I
was to abdicate my Proctorship and set her in my place with certain
conditions and she agreed and then I sent her most, but not all of the book
(a copy that is) and $300 to help get it published. They sent me a crude
book with lot's of mispellings and left out things and changed things and
after she became proctor she changed things again and I told her I wanted to
take back over because I couldn't have it the way she wanted and that is
when she kicked me out of my own church, the church and religion I created
and she became unreasonable and we had a falling out. The last thing I told
her in June of 1990 was NOT TO PUBLISH OR SELL MY BOOK!
And I assumed that was the end of it, but I find out 13 years later not only
is she still publishing and selling it, but is doing nothing I told her to
do and I made it quite clear it was NOT A PAGAN RELIGION!
But she got nasty and her close associates started sending me all sorts of
nasty email and they even sent me a virus. So I got a hold of an attorney
and was told I would have to have a copy of her version of my book to
compare with my manuscript and if she was making money off of it without my
permission I would be awarded all the money she made going back years, plus
if she used it to get donations and invested the money in to other
industries I could recover all of the money and send her and her associates
to prison up to 25 years for copyright infringements. And was told any
contract made on video or by a letter could be broken without prior warning
and would not need any reason. That only legal binding notorized witnessed
signed contracts could be enforced. Of course I already knew that. But I
could never find any place to buy it until now and saw her new website.
I finished most of the book in 1989 when I copyrighted it, but have added
more books on to it hoping I could get it out to the world of the great hoax
I created and show everybody that their religions and their religious books
could have been created the same way. I hate it when they brainwash a child
in to believing in fantasy and when they grow up they still believe it. That
is a form of slavery, mind slavery. I believe a person ought to be fully
grown before they embrace religion. That was another reason I wrote the book
was in protest of brainwashing little children because I raised 12 adopted
throw away children that nobody else wanted and I consider anybody that
brainwashes children through religion is no better or no worse than a child
molestor. That is why I want the Q'R'Beth exposed and give the reasons why
it was written in the first place; not to make a profit by me or anyone, but
to prove a religion could be created and if the book helped make some one's
life better for it, that was only icing on the cake. And any money I happen
to win from any lawsuits I would use to publish the book and give it away
free until the money ran out.(former Proctor Bella the III & author of the
Q'R'Beth.) R.A.
so add this to the hosts file r00ted

Have a large collection of nastys that I will post here or PM depending on what it is.
I did do summut very small and similer once on say around 30 Bad p()rn sites, I hunted the hosts and blocked the lot .... but what I shall do is dig the sites back up and give the details for them to Rooted, instead of having the whole host blocked like I did in the early days which prevented the good stuff from the host getting to me.

Also do u have to reboot when u add entries to the HOSTS file? They dont seem to take effect immediately after i enter something.

I heard about this one:
www.ultratorrent.com
That's a bogus torrent site, right?
As for the HOSTS file, you don't need to reboot. You just need to restart your browser.
A reboot wouldn't hurt, though.
Well, if you have the DNS client service (win 2k+XP) running, you
may need to reboot because it caches domains and their corresponding IPs. That is only an "if," though.
I always turn the DNS client service off. It doesn't really serve a purpose.

--EDIT--
BTW, www.afterdawn.com is an awesome site. It's got nice info for multimedia purposes. Especially great for newbie rippers and encoders.
And this one:
paydirect.yahoo.com
would prevent some people from donating here, via paydirect.

Yea, that torrent site I see all over the net in some flashy ad. I wouldnt trust it whatsoever, especially since its on alot of shady sites to begin with.
Sorry about the paydirect/yahoo thing..Whoops lol
Im starting to notice many sites are getting smart now. Meaning, they host ads/banners directly on their own site, with no sublink to some "ad.adserver.ads" kinda deal. Only way for me to remove them, is to drag the link into Outposts lil ad trash can, or to block all images from the site via Firefox. Last option seems better because I wont see ANYTHING whatsoever. No "AD" link or nothing. But with the Outpost trash bucket I still see "AD" in its place, with a mouse-over link. Is that still safe with the link being "active" so to speak? The Firefox option is nice, but it removes ALL images, which wont allow me to look at certain things I need to look at on the site that are legit.
Btw, Xero, whats this lil prog of yours do that you made yourself? Just some kinda hostfile tool or something?
Xero Grid
Jul 15 2004, 01:21 AM
Sorry to get back to you so late. I must have missed your post.
Don't worry about the entries.
And yes, ads are getting very smart. Some are subdomains of IPs, and not domain names. The HOSTS file cannot block IP addresses.
As for my project (yeah I do it myself), it started out as just a HOSTS file installer, but now, it can place malicious sites into the restricted sites zone (can take care of the ads and other crap using IPs instead of domain names), block spyware in IE by essentially blacklisting known malicious ActiveX controls, shut down some vulnerabilities in Windows. It's also allows a couple of tweaks and now you can run CWShredder before installing the HOSTS file entries.
Free of course.

Peace.

Hi
The list is maintained by web root spy sweeper ... this runs all the time along with software firewall and protowall and router and good corperate AV.
I take my security seriously and since this was all brought online, I havnt been hacked.
but if you want updates of this list from spy sweeper happy to do so.

The site _http://free2xsite.com opened a Java applet and loaded the ByteVerify trojan when I unsuspectingly clicked a link to it. (There was no "www" in the link.)

ads.online.ie & ads.hotpress.com added.
www.edo.ie seems to be a company that offers different webservices.

EDO Software Services is a leading e-business provider.
EDO creates corporate information sites, online stores, membership-based sites and full-scale portal sites for clients. EDO also provides secure, virus-scanned corporate mail services.
EDO takes a one-stop approach that covers design, planning, building and hosting a web presence, leaving clients free to concentrate on their core business goals.

More info :
http://www.edo.ie/retail-tech.htmlBefore adding the main site, www.edo.ie, I would like to gather some information on them. Putting the logo "Powered by EDO" at the bottom of the webpage isn't a crime, you might as well block the IPB NUKE logo at the bottom of our site as well then.

hehe. thanks for investigating it. With all the spy-scares with the 1x1 hidden gifs and such, I figured I'd include it in the evaluation.
Thanks for adding them.

I went to
http://img259.echo.cx/my.php?image=defs3rk.jpg and was greeted by some blocks in ProtoWall. Which lead to
CODE
cmhtml.revenuescience.overture.com
I added cmhtml.revenuescience.overture.com to my HOSTS file using the HOSTS manager, and the blocks are now gone

So I think this could be blocked. I didn't see any reference to this overture.com site in the FF "Site Info", which is/was weird...
64.209.232.207 is blocked as Savvis and Exodus and a bunch of other stuff, but the IP didn't reverse DNS.
Looking through the View Source, I also found
ads.revsci.net which isn't in the BISS HOSTS either.
==========================================================
on another note:
hxxp://tracker.affistats.com/click.php?afs_id=dfgfdgsdfgkljh456l4h5j645lk6 (I randomized those =<characters> myself

I don't know if this would be a blocked contestant, but Im guessing it's 1 of those sites similar to the free ipods, where you get maybe money or something for so many people clicking the referral link (I didn't click it so I wouldn't know). I might not know, but
Google (masked with hxxp) knows 11000 results.
