As members can post here, it could be a good place for anyone else, who wants to submit their own guides, to put them in here.

Most of the guides are a perpetual work in progress, so please feel free to submit stuff that hasn't been fully polished. Once the guides have been approved by global mods or admins, they will get moved into the guides section.
Bear
I woulden't call it a guides (this is y i havent't made an new thread), but I've notised that most most people don't know what spyware is and that they might have it. Therfore i will advise averyone to install Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.2 fom here:
http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10194058...tml?tag=lst-0-1
and if u want dubbel protektion ad-aware:
http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10214379...tml?tag=lst-0-1

Spybot also contain some tools as safe deletion (wipeing) and a full list of running apications.
bluetack
yes, thanks for that. I will get some more info together and post something up about spyware and also something about blocking ad sites.

ip blocking works the best , but you have to be prepared to look for the right ips to block first.

and disabling active x is a great way of stopping stuff dead in its tracks and filtering javascript/java also at untrusted websites so the spyware cant be installed in the first place.

this is so easy to use against people it should be classed as an attack and made illegal, but some nasties ive found lead straight back to washington , so they must use them for a reason. dry.gif

dont follow the links unless you want to be infected or have their ip blocked first.

some spyware can be installed as easily as clicking on a url link and getting redirected to something like this:

yeah whatever Bear laugh.gif , 13 of those are freeware, so i would recommend those at least, especially cause there isnt anything else to use.

i dont know why would you need to hack spybot , adaware or hijack this ? , they are already free programs , maybe you like to make things more difficult for yourself. what part of free dont you like ?

LOL I don't even use half of those and I don't have any problems tongue.gif

I just use

Outpost
Regvacuum
AdAware
Spyware Blaster
a squared
Spybot

And I have not had a problem yet if you keep them all up to date wink.gif tongue.gif
Moore
biggrin.gif ok , well i think outpost on its own can be set up to block most of the crap from getting in in the first place, as well as a decent hosts file and a bit of common sense.[<- the hardest part tongue.gif ]

i havent used adaware , spybot or spysweeper etc for a long time on my own computer , the rest of the tools are handy to have around for spying , the only thing that got through in the last year and a half was a cws trojan cause i didnt have javascript disabled at the time. laugh.gif

also that list is old , i now have twice as many progs i listed back then..
