Hello, it is my first time I write on this forum, I need your advice about file sharing security in EU countries.
I live in Italy and I share files on shareaza, only quite old movies that have already run on TV dozens of times and reinassance-baroque music (in that era copyright didn't exist), so I think it should be almost all right. I am interested in file sharing because of the opportunity to find rare files. Now I installed shareaza security update 2.7.
What are the risks in the worst possible scenario? Are there international treatys against file sharing?
I have recieved the following message which I suspect to be spam, but I am not 100% sure.
This was posted not to my account at my ISP, but on an hotmail account.
It was sent from an italian email account which can be obtained for free.
Since I live in Italy I have nothing to do with the FBI, and I think they have no jurisdiction in Italy (at least in theory).
I also suspect that masking the sender 's adress is illegal, and obviously it sounds as a menace.
It contained this attached file: refcode20493.pif(99 KB). of course I did not open it.
I hope this is only a very bad taste joke. Thanks for your attention
