I'm a University student, and my school has an overly restrictive network such that I cannot game online, much like countless others in forums everywhere. My question is related to only one game, though. I'd like to play Starcraft online, which runs through Battle.net. I've downloaded Hopster and http-tunnel. I can't seem to get YHopster to work, and as has been stated on this board, Tunnel is now a pay to use program. SO, how do I do this? Am I headed in the right direction? If not, what do I need to do to make this possible?

Thanks,
Andy

is it useing its own port? and are you trying to get it to work thru a http tunnel?

if so the analog x port mapper might work in this

you can get it here

http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/n...ork/pmapper.htm

what this app will do for ya

Do you need to map a specific TCP or UDP port on your machine to another port on another machine? Do you want to limit access to a server on your machine based on the IP address of an incoming connection request? If these sound interesting to you, then AnalogX PortMapper is just what the doctor ordered (or programmer, in this case). AnalogX PortMapper allows you to map and port on your computer to any IP address and port on another machine; not only that, you can limit access based on the incoming IP address! So, say for instance that you are using a proxy, and would like to be able to telnet from other machines; simple, just run PortMapper, and tell it to forward any request to port 23 (telnet) to the machine you want to access. Now, any time you telnet to your proxy server machine, it automatically forwards the data to the other machine! Or, do you run a webserver, and only want people from IP address you specify to connect? No problem, PortMapper can do that as well! Overall, a great standalone program, or an excellent addition to a proxy or server!

hope this helps,i don;t have the game to load it to test it out but if you can get me some more info then i can help ya a little bit better

As far as it using its own port...not sure. How would i find out? The port mapper probably would not work because I'd likew to use Battle.net to play the game. This does not involve connecting to specific IP. I'm not even sure there's a way to changethe port starcraft uses.

OK, did some digging, starcraft requires the use of ports 6112-6119, as well sa UDP out and in.

i think that it is blocked in the main database so you will have to kill what ever your useing to block ips if you are useing anything

I play StarCraft to and as far as i know you don't need to be in contact white battle.net as soon as the game has commenced (I’ve been disconnected once actually whiteout it having any impact on the game).
I think you connect directly to the people you play white, but most firewalls will automatically block all traffic on ports used by some PCB99-trojan (the name is probably wrong and i don't remember the ports). So you need to disable auto blocking and then of course have access to all your opponents and battle net's IP’s

I'm aware that Battle.net connectivity is needed to begin a game, or find on ather, and then to keep stats for the account. Being disconnected is not uncommon. The problem, as I said before, is that I cannot connect to battle.net whatsoever, and have no access to firewall settings. I can get starcraft to query a server, and get my player profile, but i will not bring up the login screen. This leads me to believe there's a hangup in the firewall somewhere that I CAN get around. Just gotta figure it out. I'm working with port forwarding as we speak.
