Not surprisingly, he downloaded blocklists include many of the reserved IP ranges that home network uses - so incapacitates home network if i activate blockpost with new IP lists from BLM. Is there a way of removing LAN IPs from the BLM consolidated lists ?? Doing it by hand is a killer...
TIA

PS - I guess it will be easy when the exclusion util is effective. Would value and shortcuts in the meantime. Thanks for a great utlity suite wink.gif

actually if you de-select the for non lan users range in the options then it will not load that list smile.gif

that is if it is these ranges

IANA Reserved for private use FNLC:010.000.000.000-010.255.255.255
IANA Reserved for private use FNLC:192.168.000.000-192.168.255.255
IANA Reserved for private use FNLC:240.0.0.0-255.255.255.255

Just an FYI, cDonkey list blocks IANA as well.

Thanks guys. Just disabling the LAN option & cDonkey does the job pretty much (I edited the remaining IANA multicast range from start at 224.0.0.0 to 225.0.0.0 to allow for log on to domain at startup...). Everything seems ok so far.
Many thanks

No problem plastix! I was about to suggest not using the cDonkey list anyways as it was far out of date (July '03), but hey! I just looked and it was finally updated a couple of days ago.

ah so that is why the new lines are in there that is messing up in the download now,i thought that it was still outdated lol

I have strange issue in my "home network".
I use RCA USB Modem for internet connection and netcard for connecting my home deskptop with my laptop.
Laptop is a part of network in my job company, it's IP in TCP properties is 10.9.96.68. I can't change anything in laptop's TCP proprties (IP, mask, gate, DNS, WINS) --- if I would, I couldn't log in the company network.

My PeerGuardian was blocking this IP=10.9.96.68 (working with blocklist exported from BLM).
So I made exclusions.txt with the rule "10.9.96.68 - 10.9.96.68 , 200 , laptop" , then I downloaded blacklists, imported exclusions and exported such a blocklist from BLM to PG. And I met two problems then.

FIRST ONE - smaller
I can't save my blocklist as a .blm file --- BLM hangs.

SECOND ONE - bigger
I thougt that (10.9.96.68) is allowed now , because the adequate range becomes divided :
10.0.0.0 - 10.9.96.67 , IANA Reserved
10.9.96.69 - 10.255.255.255 , IANA Reserved

But my laptop (10.9.96.68) via netcard is still blocked.
If I use "Find IP" in PG List Management it shows me that this IP is in blocked range :
95.245.244.244 - 127.255.255.255 , IANA Reserved (???????)

Before I created a new BLM blocklist with exclusion, "Find IP" in PG was showing that this IP is in range:
89.0.0.0 - 127.255.255.255 , IANA Reserved.
Now this range is devided to :
89.0.0.0 - 95.245.244.242 , IANA Reserved.
95.245.244.244 - 127.255.255.255 , IANA Reserved.
and my IP=10.9.96.68 is ..... in the second, still blocked, range (?).

How can it be?
How make my laptop's IP permit?

I used BLM's built in exclusion maker and it worked just fine. You need to follow the directions and check/uncheck/change some settings in the Options section. I just clicked on help and followed the directions. Worked 100%, no problems. More people need to read the help file maybe???

I dont think you are using the latest test version. If i remember, the "save as blm file" was removed in the latest test version for now until we get it working. Try getting that at link below.

Also, yes, the help file is a good place to look. There is a link to it in my sig below in red.

No, that is a screen shot of an earlier version before the options were cleaned up. If you have a router, i recommend you do not use the "IANA Private" source as it will probably block your connection. Deselect this source and redownload the list.

that's funny, i'm currently on a router, a wireless one, and have that check. everything is fine to me.

if you have a normal household router, your LAN IP range is most likely 192.168.0.0-192.168.255.255. Depending on how your network is setup (either static or dynamic IP addressing) you can exclude this range or just the single IP you are using out of the range. You can find out how to exclude ranges in the how-to section of the online BLM help site: http://www.bluetack.co.uk/blmhelp/

If that range is not enough, you can try to turn off everything extra that accesses the internet and see what IPs PW is blocking and find out which ones are needed in order for you to access the internet.

Well i am not on a ISP network that i pay for and use a cable modem to get internet access.. It might be my modem but when i first got protowall for the first time i did have internet disconnection problems.. I also don't have a house hold router i told you before in my last post i have symantec client securiy firewall 2.0 and i don't know how to exculde port it I only think it can exclude ip ranges so i should put that range in my blacklist manger under exclude and do what then try to find the ip can you tell me step by step or make it easier i don't get what all i have to do??

I need to know that IANA and the Bogon ranger are i always block them with protowall can i change that and keep those sources still enabled?? I also said in my last post i did read all of the blacklist manger FAQs and still can't find a answer? sad.gif

there are 2 solutions:
1) disable the IANA lists
or
2) make separate exclusions as you experience the disconnects/blocks.

What I usually do, using the build 2007 PW, I right click the blocked connection, Copy Single IP, then I paste it into the Whois, Convert to Singel Range, then Add to Exclusions. This way I am only excluding/opening access to a single IP, as opposed to 255 or more IP addresses.
nitrusoxide
Ya but can't i enclude it with the IANA list enabled and also i tried to go to google when the spider list was enable then a enclued it and it still blocked it you have any idea??
r00ted
be sure that when you "update" your blocklists, and export to your PW2 folder, that you "re-load" the ipfilter.p2p into ProtoWall.. you can do this by pushing Stop, then click the W in the top left, goto Load, and IP Filter, find your ipfilter.p2p file, and select it, and click OK. Now Click start in ProtoWall. It should report a new amount of IPs/ranges blocked.

Optionally, you could just Stop, then Quit PW, then re-execute the pw.exe wink.gif

Everytime i connect to my internet i have bwwn noticing that protowall go crazy and blocks bogon i have a range of my ip what is the problem here?? Thank you for all your support man wink.gif
darkmetal
I am having problems with Msn Messanger protowall blocks it can you help me exclude this ip so i can sigh on with protowall running??
Tozzano
Hi darkmetal.

Just harvest the IP's that are being blocked, and add them to your exclusions file in BLM.

what kind of issues can iana incompatability with my home network cause? i use a wireless homenetwork, and i have the iana lists checked and imported into peerguardian2, and i do see that the program is blocking quite a few iana hits. I do not see a slowing of my internet connection of lost data though. What is the issue with IANA anyways?
firstaid
After a period of time of blocking your IANA addresses you may loose your connection. I usualy loose my connection within a day if I block my IP address.

With PG2 when you see it blocked you can always just right click and add it to a whitelist.
