generally no.

if you use search pages like sam spade , they do not send your real IP address with the whois request, but they may get 24hr bans from the smaller places.

when you use an online tool , your ip address connects directly to the IP database such as APNIC, ive been barred for life by apnic for making too many requests, but this included barring my isp as well , and since im in the Apnic region , i dont think they liked that idea too much and everything was soon back to normal.

there are many online pages that do not send out your real IP with your whois searches [use google to find more],
so usually you wont have to worry, except when the same service has been used too many times before you tried that day and you get a 24hr ban , but i dont get many of those.

Also www.completewhois.com has a GREAT service

also the whois project tool in the blocklist manager will look up the right server for you

just put in the number and hit get it

so you really dont have to worry , you really have plenty of options to choose from.

if you noticed my little warning in the ip address guide about getting banned, its just a general warning, most of the time you wont ever be affected , but there are a couple of sites like apnic and a registrar in melbourne , lol, who seem to be a bit more strict than everywhere else.

lol one of my ip addressess is baned from apnic i forgot about that....

it will say tpo send a email to them to get it unlocked cause they think your harvesting data for spaming

harversting ip ranges for spamming lol, is that covered in the US anti-terrorism laws yet.
