Heads up for those out there that like using Outpost Pro. cool.gif

Outpost 2.1 has been publicly released and is available for download from www.agnitum.com.

OUTPOST 2.1 announcement page

New features include:

Log file control - set limits to the size or age of log entries retained;
Rewritten Active Content plugin giving control over Flash plugins, animated GIFs and external content;
Pop-up alerts now appear for Reported connections - and can be enabled for detected attacks;
Ad-Filter - individual web sites can now be excluded from ad blocking.
Existing third-party plugins for Outpost 2.0 (like Blockpost and HTTPLog) will also work with version 2.1. Configurations can be carried across from 2.0 except for the Active Content plugin - this will need to be reconfigured from scratch due to the changes made in 2.1.

+ new importing algorithm, now checking ranges
+ new items storing algorithm, now block-list has unlimited length
+ some small bugs fixed, stability and speed improved

+ new feature: double right-click on list will select all entries.
+ new feature: right-click on entry will transfer entry to "Add new..." panel

-- When Blockpost configuration window is opened, both "OK and "Cancel" buttons works as "OK".

Active Content does not block JavaScript “file://”.
Status: Scheduled for future releases.

Outpost does not check if access to remote port 53 is a proper DNS request or not.
Additional information: A non-legitimate program can send data to remote 53 that will be allowed by Outpost's default rule allowing DNS.

Workaround: Specify your DNS server in the rule allowing DNS.
Status: Scheduled for future releases.

Attachment filter does not rename attachments having non-English file names.
Status: Scheduled for future releases.

Wrong byte count for NetBIOS connections.
Status: No immediate plans to fix.

Trashcan does not work with Opera.
Status: It is limitation of Opera browser.

Outpost does not work after reinstallation of TCP/IP stack in Windows.
Workaround: Re-install Outpost by following instructions below:

Uninstall Outpost using the Windows Control Panel "Add/remove programs".
Reboot (important).
Download the latest version from http://www2.agnitum.com/download/.
Install it.
Reboot.
Status: Scheduled for future releases.

Outpost cannot filter localhost connections.
Status: Scheduled for future releases.

Outpost can work incorrectly if installed on a 3rd party NAT-proxy (ex: Sygate Home Network).
Workaround: Use Microsoft "Internet Connection Sharing".

Status: No plans to fix it
Running Outpost with other firewalls results in system instability.

Workaround: Uninstall other personal firewall software.
Status: No plans to fix it

Windows Protection Error during shutdown on Windows ME/98.
Status: Under investigation.

To complete the un-installation you have to reboot your PC.
Status: No plans to fix it.

Does not work on Distributed File System.
Status: No immediate plan to fix it.

Outpost penetrated by Copycat Leak Test.
Status: Scheduled for future releases.

Outpost penetrated by Thermite Leak Test.
Status: Scheduled for future releases.

Agnitum Update does not update Help Files.
Status: Scheduled for future releases.

Windows 2003 is not supported.
Status: Under investigation.

Plug-ins compiled for Outpost 1.x cannot be installed on Outpost 2.0.
Status: No plans to fix it.

Workaround: If you use Outpost 2.0 please download the appropriate version of the plug-in. The latest plug-ins can be downloaded at http://www.agnitum.com/products/outpost/pl...plugins3rd.html.

lol, there are always special cicumstances when it comes to great software like this , i didnt think twice about paying for TDS-3 or REGRUN GOLD , cause their just isnt anything that compares to them that i could find.

yea.....like BASIC, when I took that my 9th grade year, it's all knowing the syntax tongue.gif the only "numbers" we messed with where when we painted pictures.....thats when I gave up, and desided to write virii via QUICK BASIC lol.....my teacher didn't like me tongue.gif

but for those of you wanting to learn programming, it's kinda easy, well, the logic is easy, putting it into code can be difficult tongue.gif Download some tutorials, start low (BASIC) then work your way up (VB, C, C++, Delphi, etc).
